The Whale
When I begin my yoga practise, I do a little… yoga people call it prayer, but I don’t really like that specific word, so I’d rather call it – greeting. I greet my inner world, and those who choose to accompany me. I usually ask for something – sometimes, they hear me and come to aid me, and sometimes, they have very selective hearing and choose not to listen.
Today, I was asking for help to find balance in the mirror effect between my outside (exterior, my body) and my inside (soul, mind). I didn’t really get any response in that first greeting, so I did my yoga as I do. In the end, I was thrown into an experience and met by – a gigantic whale. At least I think it was a whale. Quite possibly a shark, but I think it was a whale. At least that’s the expression I got.
Before the whale approached me, I found myself swimming in water. I dove deeper into a dark, blue and green ocean. I’ve done that before, and perhaps that’s why this experience turned out the way it did. My last experience was absolutely amazing, and this one was too, just different.
When you reach the bottom of an ocean, there’s an awful lot of pressure. Every movement is very slow and requires loads of power to move through all that heavy water. There’s no wonder people relate water to deep emotions. I do too.
And that’s what this experience was about. The whale – I don’t know if it’s a he or a she, and it doesn’t really matter. I was not given a name, and that doesn’t really matter either. I asked if s/he was my power animal, and s/he said no – but admitted to be the water equivalent of my power animal, so in a sense I suppose we are “related”, somehow.
Anyway; this enormous whale’s response to my request today was to filter my emotions. S/he showed me this by filtering water through the gills, which as usual, is a more effective way to present these things to me. I said that I have done this already – extensively (in my own opinion, that is). The whale, if whales do such things, laughed and said that we humans are so small and we need to do it more often. I couldn’t help but laugh at that, to be honest. 😀
I have yet to unpack this load of information fully. I have yet to understand how I am expected to do this. Again. I know what and how I’ve done it before, but perhaps I need to find another strategy. This whole gill performance seemed quite effective, so I may indulge into that.
But as I understand it – and, quite frankly, I already know it since it has already happened… Or let me start here; what I do want is for my body to reflect what I these days consider to be my treasure of an inside – mind and soul. I want my body and mind/soul to be equally beautiful. Balance between the two, one might say. And yes, I am vain, but I am also human, and it is part of the human experience.
And to pick up about understanding this – I understand that my physical shape will change into what I want it to be, when I release, or as the whale expressed it, filter my emotions and get rid of those that are holding me back, holding me down, that uses too much physical space.
And I suppose that the statement that we humans are so small that we need to do this fairly often, has a point. We must fill up quite quickly, if we don’t repeat the procedure regularily.
For this time being, I am going to give this some thought and wait for the information to be unlocked, so I understand it fully. I’ve learned that this is how it works. I get the information, and in time I’ll actually understand what’s expected from me, and when it’s done I get the results that I want.
Sometimes it’s tricky. Often, it’s time consuming. But the work is always mine to do. And the results are definitely worth waiting for.
